DATING TO THE 1840’S SEWN BY HAND COMPLETELY THROUGHOUT. THIS PIECE IS FASHIONED OF A MOST UNUSUAL TEXTILE THAT IS A LINEN AND WOOL BLEND IN BROWN AND BLACK WITH A WOOD GRAIN AND WINDOWPANE PATTERN. WINTER IN WEIGHT WITH THE TOP LINED IN A UTILITARIAN LINEN. THE FRONT BUST HAS INTERIOR PADDING WITH LINES OF BONING IN THE CENTER REAR, SIDES, AND IN A FAN IN THE FRONT. HOOK AND EYES CLOSE THE FRONT. SEAMS ARE PIPED AT THE NECKLINE, ARM HOLES, AND WAISTLINE WITH THE SLEEVES FULLY LINED IN THE LINEN WITH AN UNUSUAL SCALLOPED GATHERED DETAILING ON THE CUFF. THE FRONT IS TRIMMED IN RICK RACK DETAILING AT THE CLOSURE AND ON EACH SIDE OF THE FRONT. A UTILTARIAN COTTON LINES THE BOTTOM HEM, POCKET IS HIDDEN AT THE SIDE SEAM WITH A BLACK CORD BOTTOM. CONDITION: THE INNER HEM HAS MINOR SPOTTING FROM USE WITH THE INNER TOP HAVING A GENTLE SOILING THAT IS COMPLETELY UNSEEN WHEN WORN. A SMALL PINHEAD FRAY HOLE IS BEGINNING ON THE FRONT JUST ASIDE THE RICK RACK DETAIL WITH A ONE INCH HOLE IN NEED OF A SMALL STITCH MEND ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT FRONT UNDERARM AT THE PIPED SEAM DETAIL. DATING TO THE EDWARDIAN ERA FASHIONED OF LINEN AND LARGE OPEN HOLE HAND MADE EYELET WITH A MACHINE MADE CROCHET STYLE LACE INSERTED AT THE TOP BOTH IN FRONT AND REAR, AROUND THE HIGH BONED COLLAR, DOWN THE CENTER FRONT, AND TRIMMING THE CUFFS OF THE THREE QUARTER SLEEVES. SOLID LINEN SKIRTING HAS EYELET INSERTION RUNNING DOWN FROM THE BELTING AND ACROSS THE REAR WITH HOOK AND EYE CLOSURE IN THE REAR BACK. CONDITION: FRESHLY HAND LAUNDERED AND IN CRISP, CLEAN CONDITION. TWO PINHEAD FRAY HOLES ARE IN THE EYELET OF THE TOP AND MUST BE HUNTED FOR.
